Clever Cats Share And Teach Others How To Fetch

Leo

My kitty Leo actually learned to fetch as his first trick. We accidentally learned that he would do this particular trick. He has this little catnip mouse toy that he LOVES, one day I was playing with him and his mouse while taking a break from working on my computer. I took it and threw it in the other room to get him out of my way for a few minutes and he brought it back to me. I was sure that it was a fluke so I tried it again and again he brought the mouse back. I was astonished. I got out his treats and we practiced for a while, that was about 2 weeks ago and Leo still will perform this trick and sometimes without accepting the treat, like he is doing it for fun.

The only downfall.... if he isn't interested in the toy he won't participate and sometimes he loses interest very quickly.

I agree, if my cat isn't interested in fetching anymore, he'll bring the toy back, but just drop it at my foot instead of jumping up on the couch and dropping the ball near me so that I can throw it again.
